Sealed by the Blood

Overview on Exodus 24

Exodus 24:1-8

In these verses we see the principles and practices of the kingdom of God come to a pinnacle. Here His covenant with the children of Israel is being ratified through the blood of sacrifice. In this moment God changes their destiny and they move from slavery, to adoption as sons and daughters with an inheritance through relationship with Him. God calls the people back to worship him. They have seen Gods miracles and all His glory and respond accordingly. The words of the covenant with God are written down, Moses reads them and the people agree. These words call the people to accountability and action. To be in covenant is to be faithful and obedient. It's not enough to just have knowledge you have to live it. Moses then took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, the 12 pillars, and the altar. This act teaches the Israelites and Christians today that this relationship could only be made with them through the sprinkling of blood Hebrews 9:19-22. God’s acceptance of them was only by an atoning sacrifice, and the blessings and promises of God are only secured through His grace Ephesians 2:11-17. Here we also see a type or pattern in the way the people could approach God. The people remained at a distance. Moses, Joshua, Nadab and Abihu, Aaron and seventy elders went further s presence. In life before, apart from God there was no hope, but because of Jesus Christ there are no barriers and we can ALL come into the presence of God. We have been brought near through the blood of Jesus Christ 1 Corinthians 11:25.

1. How is your life defined, and where do you find peace?

2. How do we have peace with God?

  • How have you tried to obtain peace on your own?
  • Do you personally have peace with God?

3. Are you obedient, and do you apply what God says to your life?

Exodus 24:9-18

God allowed the elders of Israel to see Him to show them the reality of His presence and His Glory. It is impossible whether it was another Christophany or the Father Himself, fully or partially seen, is unknown, but what they saw was some form of the Lord. They saw God and lived because they were covered in the blood. They ate and drank, had fellowship and communion in God’s presence without fear. This was true worship. The book of Revelation describes Then the angel said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the We as Christians will sit down and see God face to face, talk with Jesus and enjoy fellowship with God. We have a place at His table because we have been covered, or washed in the blood of Jesus. We have been sealed in His new covenant by the grace of God. This is accomplished by faith and belief that God is who He says He is. If we trust in that and nothing else we will all be drawn nearer to God and feast with Him someday in eternity. Revelation 3:20-22

1. How do you apply Jesus blood to your life?

  • Do you trust Jesus with everything?

2. How will you appear before the Lord, will you have a place at his table?

3. How is God visible and tangible in your life?

  • How can you draw nearer to God?
